The U.S. Open says it regrets warning a female tennis player for taking off her shirt


Sometimes, a good public outcry is all you need. After female tennis player AlizĂ© Cornet briefly removed her shirt while changing on the court of the U.S. Open on Wednesday, the umpire issued her a warning — and immediately incited outrage. Fans complained that similar warnings had not been issued to male tennis players. On Wednesday, the U.S. Open actually responded to complaints and issued a public apology.
