The strongest storm of 2018 is swirling in the Indian Ocean

The year's first Category 5 storm has formed in the Indian Ocean, off the northwest coast of Australia. Cyclone Marcus, which blew through the Australian city of Darwin as the equivalent of a Category 1 hurricane on March 17, intensified to a Category 5 storm with maximum sustained winds of 160 miles per hour on Wednesday.
